Motion Math: Hungry Guppy App Reviews

Ok

This app is just ok. Certainly not slick enough or enabled with enough options to warrant the 3.99 I paid for it. Kids are relatively content with it. But certainly not enough there to hold their attention for a long period of time. Wish there was more explanation for the kids on what to do. The voice giving instruction is quieter than the background music!

Great game!

My daughter and I had a great time playing this game! I particularly like the way addition is conveyed by combining two bubbles together, and my daughter just love feeding the fish and watching it grow! Great job guys!

Good buy

My son spent way more time with this than I thought he would. And hes learning addition! Win win.

Great Game

This game looks pretty and is a fun way for kids to learn simple math. Great job!

My friends three-year-old loved it

Shared this app with my friend and her three-year-old. Happy to see a little girl encouraged in math and to hear her say "I did it!"

Fun game for pre-k

Great game for pre-k learners! Colorful graphics and delightful musical tracks makes learning math fun.

Keeps my little one occupied while I make dinner

Got this for my little girl and she was immediately absorbed. Once I saw she was having fun, I was able to make dinner quickly & without worry. Best of all, shes learning math so she can feed her fish! (Named Fishie). First thing she asked for this morning, too!

Fun!

Love the colorful screen! My three year old giggles at the cute guppie

Great game 4 lil kiddos!

Several of my friends have toddlers that I like to entertain while I catch up with their moms. So, I know this fun and colorful app will keep their kiddos engaged and learning and Ill be known as the "cool aunt with the cool apps"! I have all the Motion Math apps on my phone so that I can educate and entertain kids off all ages! : )

great for learning!

Im excited to play this game with my child! Another fun and beautiful game by Motion Math. Thank you!

Great For Pre-K

My twins love it. Very straightforward and colorful. At just four years old, theyll soon be better at addition than their older cousins!

Fun learning game

My nephew took a little while to figure it out, but he enjoyed it and learned a lot about the numbers in the process.

Easy, fun

Good game, simple easy math.

Its good, but...

This game has a lot going for it. First, it actually teaches math. Second the control scheme is great. Finally, the art style is really nice. Here is my main complaint. The game needs a greater sense of progression. The child should sense their progress. The game now is fine but the need a better payoff for doing it right. The fish is growing but it isnt obvious how close it is to being grown. I suggest a bar that fills up on one side of the screen. When the child completes the level there should be something awesome... Take for example the Peggle win production. In that game, they make a huge deal out of it when you win. Those are my only real complaints. The reason that they are relevant is that they keep the child playing. As it is, my kids play it for a little while and then ask for something else. I would prefer if they kept going with their addition practice instead of playing Peggle. Btw, my kids are 2 and 3. They can do it but I feel they lose interest too quickly.

Great for toddlers

My 2yo toddler loves this app. Hes actually grasp the concept of addition.

Love this game

Offers rewards for kids when they feed the fish correctly. Love the visual representation of numbers with dots and combing the dots to make larger numbers. Great app for my 3 & 4 yr olds.

LUVKDG

This game is great for my students who are struggling in math. It doesnt work with nuymbers higher than 5, so my kids are able to understand combining groups at lower levels. I would guess that the average kindergarten student would not like this much once they have a good concept of number, but for pre-school or lower level kindergarten it is great....I wish there was one level higher so my students could take the next step. Also, I would love each student to have personal account so they could work at independent levels.

Borrrrrring

This app is terrible!I wasted $4.00 on a three year old app!I want my money back!

Counts to 5 only. For 3-5 years max

My 3.5yr old enjoyed this for about an hour, then was ready for the next app up. It only allows addition to the amounts of 2,3,4, or 5. My son would have been much happier with this app had it allowed addition to the number 10. The lower numbers got boring too fast and there is no variation in the game -- youre always feeding that little guppy. If your child is already using some of the popular preschool math apps (think monkey, park) then this is way basic. Excellent for a 36 month old, not much beyond. However, if your child is struggling with the concepts of basic addition in the 3-5 yr range, then this might be a good remedial tool. This app doesnt "learn" from your childs struggles or successes, you have to change the levels manually, I.e. it will have your child practice adding 2 or 3 forever until you go to the menu and manually tell it to start giving your child 4 or 5 to add. "Prizes" are just selecting a temp coloring for your fish -- not that rewarding. Not worth a premium price.

Boring for little ones

This app is the same game over and over so it doesnt obtain the little ones attention. My daughter finds it boring. Better math apps out there.
